Position Summary
Recent expansion has created the need for a skilled and creative analytic leader that is aligned with the product team to advance our machine learning algorithms. The Vice President of Integrated Decision Sciences is responsible for building and improving the algorithms that are integrated into the service platform. Success is measured by the quantity (# of projects) and quality (measured lift, revenue gains) of the initiatives. This hands on leadership role will lead our product intelligence efforts including helping to define the roadmap, determining key technologies and approaches, developing specific algorithms, working with engineering on implementation and eventually leading a small but highly skilled team.
Qualifications
- Education: PhD in mathematics, statistics or other quantifiable discipline. Academic experience in consumer behavior is preferred.
- Years of Experience: minimum 10, preferred 15+
- Proficient with complex human behavior modeling problems - ideally with attempts to predict and model how messaging influences consumer behavior
- 5+ years in direct marketing discipline, online direct marketing preferred
- SAS/SPSS or equivalent skills. Excellent MS Office skills
- Knowledge with Java / Unix environments
- Deep experience in modeling, projecting, simulation environments
- Demonstrated proficient working with business and technical teams to integrate algorithms into product platforms
- Preferred experience building predictive models for product recommendations, media mix modeling, creative multi-variate testing
- Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Superb analytic skills including the ability to statistical determine trends from display advertising data and consumer response data

- Database, segmentation and/or targeting experience - Use of targeting tools and implementation
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to foster and develop existing and new client relationships
Responsibilities
- Define the IDS roadmap in consultation with management and product. Our key initiatives in this area, expected workload, and benefits will be defined. Additionally, the KPI's of the group will be defined with management and the VP will regularly report on progress against both - 15%
- Research and test key methodologies. This role keeps abreast of developments in the field and seeks to apply the best available techniques to identified opportunities using sample data and simulations - 20%
- Coordinate implementations with engineering. This role will work closely with software developers to implement specific solutions. This position is not responsible for coding solutions into production but must be sensitive to the issues of performance and scalability. The position will document the algorithmic part of the development effort - 40%
- Measure success and provide feedback. As projects role into production this position will ensure we have systems in place to monitor the effectiveness of new developments at launch and over time - 10%
- Advocate our approach internally and with key customers. As the company advocate for machine learning intelligence in the company, this role should actively educate and champion the initiatives in accordance with management goals and team alignment - 10%
- Identify the requirements for the department and staff accordingly. As the roadmap is defined the VP will be responsible for identifying resources required to meet or accelerate development efforts and put a plan in place for management approval - 5%
